Scan and Go Opens Beta Testing for a New Sailing Weather Decision Platform

Scan and Go, a new marine weather and passage-planning platform currently in beta development, is inviting recreational sailors, cruising skippers, and sailing instructors to help shape the future of practical marine weather information.

The idea behind Scan and Go came from a simple observation: sailors have access to more weather data than ever before, yet making sense of it can still be difficult and time-consuming.  scan and go logo

A typical passage requires skippers to check multiple forecasts, compare wind, tides, visibility, sea conditions, and weather warnings before deciding whether a departure is safe, comfortable, or worthwhile.

Scan and Go aims to simplify that process.

Instead of simply displaying weather data, the platform seeks to interpret conditions from a sailor's perspective, providing clear guidance, warnings, and sailing-specific insights that help users make better-informed decisions.

"Most weather platforms tell you what the weather is doing. We're trying to answer the question sailors actually care about: 'Is this a good day to go?'"

The project combines multiple weather sources, tide information, local conditions, and sailing-focused analysis into a format designed specifically for marine users.

The long-term vision is to create a platform that supports both experienced sailors and those still learning, making marine weather information easier to understand and safer to act upon.

Call for Beta Testers

Scan and Go is currently seeking volunteer beta testers from across the UK sailing community.

The team is particularly interested in feedback from:

Beta testers will have the opportunity to influence the product's direction, suggest new features, and help shape tools that could benefit sailors across the country.

Feedback is especially valuable from sailors planning regular coastal passages and those involved in skipper training and education.
